Some movie posters are iconic, remembered as well as, if not better than, the movies they marketed. Even if you’ve never seen the movie “Alien,” for example, you would almost undoubtedly recognize its poster (even without the “Alien” type).
We love great movie posters; we adorn the walls of our home theaters and man caves with them. Yet it is perhaps unfortunate that we only get to see the final approved work. What about all the alternative movie posters out there, either created as concepts for their respective films or made later by legions of fans who want to put their own spin on marketing the stories?
Let’s face it: Every horror buff loves movie posters, but isn’t it a droll world when every poster from every movie looks the same? That’s why I think it’s so cool to showcase alternative movie posters. You can still commemorate your favorite films, but you can do so with unique style you’ll be proud to show off to your friends and fellow cinema buffs. What’s more, if you’re a graphic designer you know that creating your own spin on a favorite movie poster is tons of fun.
In the spirit of originality, I’m sharing with you 10 alternative movie posters you’ve probably never seen. Each is featured on AMP, or alternativemovieposters.com, a website I highly recommend for your viewing pleasure (the originals are from IMP Movie Post Awards). Which alternative movie poster is your favorite?
