When I set out to name my top 5 funny Super Bowl commercials of all time, I had no idea how difficult it would be to narrow down so many great advertisements into just five winners. Did you know that funny Super Bowl commercials go all the way back to the late ’60s? I sure didn’t … but I do now!
Not that I’m complaining. Having so many hilarious commercials to sift through quickly became an excuse for wasting an entire morning watching beer bottles battle it out on the gridiron, old ladies searching for beef and motorcycling beavers attack settlers. I realize that humor is subjective, and you probably have your own list based on your unique sense of humor, but to me, the following are the top 5 funny Super Bowl commercials of all time.
Opera music plays as a dude carefully pulls up a chair and digs into a bag of Doritos while he waits for a mouse to fall victim to a trap … until the rodent brutalizes him instead.
A hot chick moves in next door to the shortest lady killer who ever lived (well, maybe Napoleon and O.J. are in the running), and he goes to great lengths to get her a Diet Pepsi. So true, so classic, so ’80s. Undeniably funny.
Remember when Jordan and Bird battled it out over a Big Mac and fries … and couldn’t miss? Off the griddle, through the mouth, to the arteries — nothing but heart attack!
I love slapstick, so I admit that this commercial probably would not have made my list if not for the masseuse slapping the towel boy in the back of the head. To me, that’s laugh-out-loud funny and a reason to watch this funny Super Bowl commercial two or three times.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to Reebok’s Terry Tate: Office Linebacker Super Bowl commercial. Watch for yourself, then get back to work before Terry Tate tracks you down!
