10 Best Batman Designs

February 1, 2012

Nearly every boy (and man ... ahem) has harbored a fascination with superheroes. We go through the ranks until we settle on an all-time favorite: Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America ... my 7-year-old loves Ben 10. For my part, the greatest superhero has to be the Caped Crusader, the Dark Knight: Batman. Batman is so compelling, first and foremost, because his superpowers are man-made. He didn't need to be from another planet or to be bitten by a mutant spider to get what he has. Sure, being billionaire Bruce Wayne with the incredibly tech-savvy Alfred helps one build an incredible arsenal, but the fact remains that all of Batman's “wonderful toys,” as Jack Nicholson's Joker referred to them, are borne of human ingenuity. Add in a compelling revenge story and some of the most colorful villains in comic, television, and cinema history (some even larger than Batman himself), and you've got a recipe for blockbuster after blockbuster. You've also got plenty of inspiration for incredible fan art. I scoured Deviant Art, one of my favorite places to find unique designs, for examples of Batman artwork. Whether you're a die-hard Bat addict or just a casual fan, I think you'll enjoy these 10 best Batman designs.
