Make Your Own Photo Invitation Cards for Special Occasions

December 13, 2009

white-house-christmas-cardDo you have a special event on the horizon that you'd like to commemorate with the perfect invitation? You can't go wrong with photo invitation cards, the most unique way to invite guests to your wedding, housewarming, New Year's Eve party, Christmas dinner, birthday, confirmation and, well, just about any other occasion.

I like photo invitation cards for two reasons: first, they can't be reproduced. Only you own your visage and therefore only you can create an invitation that showcases you! Second, they're simple for even the novice to design and print – all you need is a decent digital camera and a computer. Point and shoot and send to print! In addition, you can do some really neat things with photo invitation cards. Cut out your image and place yourself in an exotic vacation location, superimpose your head on another's body, add props, or play around with different filters and lighting effects to give your invitations the personal treatment. Perhaps best of all is that it's cheap to print photo invitation cards on high-quality papers and ultra-convenient to have your printing company address them and send them out for you. I love the process of designing invitations, but I loathe the hand-addressing, envelope-licking, stamping, and sending. I prefer to bypass the hassle and let my printing company take care of it. So whether you're inviting guests to a holiday shindig or a transcendental ceremony – or anything in between – personalize your photo invitation cards with images of you, your family, or even your dog to lend a creative and homey touch that will capture guests' attention and help them feel comfortable the second they arrive.
