5 Ways to Market with Postcards in May

May offers plenty of opportunities to ramp up your spring marketing efforts with postcards designed to bring purchase-ready customers to your door or website. All it takes is a quick look at a May holiday calendar, a bit of creativity, some marketing savvy, and an affordable premium postcard printing and distribution partner. If you're stuck for creative marketing ideas, try the following five ways to market with postcards in May. 1. Mother's Day Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity for retail and service companies to push their products and services via postcards. Send postcards to your target audience – those who buy for their mothers – along with value-added offers such as discount coupons. You can make postcards into mini-catalogs that feature a single product and drive traffic to your website; or, if you're a service business such as a salon or spa, turn your postcards into VIP discount cards. 2. National Barbecue/Hamburger/Salad Month May is National Barbecue Month, National Hamburger Month and National Salad Month, so you can capitalize on the family cookout trend by inviting customers to your own cookout with postcard invitations. Send postcards inviting customers to your special event, which could include burgers and dogs, free music, and some awesome special sales they won't want to miss. 3. National Teacher's Day (Tuesday first full week of May) One of the most popular and effective forms of advertising today is teaching. Plenty of “How-To” videos, articles and guide booklets are published to tell customers how they can do something or do something better. And when you teach, you quickly become known as an expert in your field – which drives its own traffic of customers ready to buy. Send a postcard around National Teacher's Day with an invitation to a webcast, website, tutorial, seminar or conference your customers will want to attend to learn more about a relevant aspect of your business. 4. Pack Rat Day (May 17) Depending on your business, there are many different ways you can spin Pack Rat Day to your advantage. A retailer could offer to replace clutter with new items, an organizer or retailer who sells organizational products could offer to help organize space, a dumpster delivery and hauling service could offer to help remove clutter, etc. Use postcards to advertise your service on Pack Rat Day and make sure to include a valuable coupon for best results. 5. Memorial Day Honor, respect, family, patriotism and pride: These themes should be prevalent in your Memorial Day postcard marketing campaigns. You don't have to have a Memorial Day-relevant business to send coupon and other special offer postcards on or around Memorial Day.
