A lot of proposals take place around the warm and fuzzy holidays and Valentine’s Day, and then wedding planning goes into overdrive. Most people who’ve gone through a wedding or two report that once you choose a venue, the rest of the organization falls into place. So the first task after a reservation has been made is to print and send out save-the-date notices. Here are six unique formats from which to choose.

Much to the chagrin of old-fashioned people, it’s quite acceptable these days to do away with a traditional printed notification. It’s free to send a save-the-date e-mail or an Evite, but be sure to follow up with people, and don’t fail to send a proper invitation later on.
If you or your betrothed is a bookworm, then a fun option for a save-the-date card that reflects your personality is to design a bookmark. You can include all the pertinent information, and your invited guests will actually be able to utilize the keepsake.
A trend I’ve enjoyed with save the dates is to make magnets with your names, wedding date and location. Recipients can stick them on the refrigerator and be reminded of the wedding every single day.
Finally, another fun idea is to print tickets to your wedding. After all, your wedding is a big event – why not make your friends and family feel like honored guests at an exclusive party?
