More than anything else on the human body, the eye is the doorway to experiencing art.
We can see color, depth, perspective, shadow, line, shape and motion among other artistic elements. We use our eyes to internalize the world around us and process it in our own unique way. That is my definition of art. Not only can we view art, but we use our eyes to determine quality. Your eyes will tell you which picture to use in your project, and it will also tell you which quality of paper is right for your flyer; they work in perfect harmony with the rest of your body and senses. The human eye has also been a widely used subject matter for sketching. Capturing the wet and dry combination of the eye’s components is a wonderful challenge for any sketcher. The artists listed below have done just that. Take inspiration from their use of line and form. Their pencil, pen and charcoal strokes are uniquely arranged so that each eye seems to tell it’s own story. This has always been a subject matter I’ve been impressed with. If you’ve seen or done any other great eye sketches, be sure to let me know, and I’ll post even more!
