3 Ways to Print Mailings with Magnets
July 27, 2010
PsPrint's new magnets are a great "freemium" item to give away in mailings. While a plain-old mailing, might get tossed in the trash without a second thought, a mailing with a free item such as a magnet, bookmark, notepad or calendar, will more likely be opened and saved. Below are three tactics for sending out magnets in your next promotional mailing. 1. Insert magnets in envelope mailings Magnets can be inserted into any kind of mailed customer communication - account statements, newsletters, appointment reminders and so forth. It is important to call out the free magnet in teaser copy on the outer envelope. This will provoke recipients to open the envelope and not throw it away. With a No. 10 envelope you can use a small square or rectangular magnet. If you are mailing a larger envelope, then go for a larger 3.5-inch by 5.5-inch magnet. 2. Attach magnets to postcards Talk to your printer about spot-gluing or otherwise attaching a small business card-size magnet to a large postcard. There are lots of clever ways to integrate the magnet into the creative. If possible, print underneath the magnet and use the magnet as a way to "reveal" what's underneath - a discount code, a personalized URL or other surprise. 3. Place magnets in brochures This is a more deluxe version of sending a magnet attached to a postcard. Use a folded 8.5-inch by 11-inch or larger brochure and spot glue a magnet of any size inside. Sending a folded brochure means the address panel is on the outside of the mailing, and the entire inside is open for copy and design. Again, to increase the open rate, be sure to advertise on the outside panels that there is a free gift inside!

Great! You have written very properly about the ways to print mailings with magnets.
As always, a great idea from you guys! This is why I like doing business with you, it's because of the new things I learn from you and your blog. I think that anything with a free gift inside is still the best way to get them to open it, and a magnet is the perfect gift. Not only will it not increase my mailing costs, whatever I put on it will be seen over and again when the recipient uses it on their refrigerators.
