PsPrint-Sponsored Art Murmur Expands

PsPrint has a lot in common with Oakland Art Murmur: Both are headquartered in Oakland and strive to get artists’ works promoted to a wide audience. While PsPrint does this by providing affordable online-printing services, Oakland Art Murmur works with venues to host events such as its First Friday Art Walk, which increases awareness of various cultural and art galleries. That’s why PsPrint is now a proud sponsor of Oakland Art Murmur. The First Friday Art Walk – already a monthly mecca for arts enthusiasts – is expanding this month to Jack London Square. The First Friday galleries open this week, May 4, include four new galleries and five new mixed-use venues, including Urban Legend winery and beloved Oakland institution Oaklandish.

Although it’s probably best known for First Friday, Oakland Art Murmur – which has been active since 2007 – hosts a variety of other events as well as conducts collective marketing and outreach efforts in the arts community. While the First Friday Art Walk is held at night and has a party vibe, more mellow arts enthusiasts can opt for the Saturday Stroll, which is a tour of galleries every Saturday afternoon. Other events Art Murmur is involved in include the San Francisco Fine Art Fair later this month and an annual free event called Murmurama, which is on May 19. While events are Oakland Art Murmur’s most effective form of marketing, followed by press exposure, postcard maps of all the galleries has been “the core of the group’s marketing since it started,” says executive director Danielle Fox. “People who have never been to the galleries pick them up and use them to get from one to the next.” As a sponsor, PsPrint will be printing those postcard maps for First Friday and Saturday Stroll. In addition, PsPrint is also printing the guides for Oakland Art Murmur’s fundraising party “Flourish,” which is this Sunday, May 6. See you on The Town this weekend!
