I was racking my brain for something interesting to say about business cards and somehow wound up searching for "business cards" on Youtube.com. I found these three crazy clips that I hope will entertain and inspire. From each clip a lesson about business card printing can be learned. 1. "Oh my god, it even has a watermark ..." Here's a classic scene from the film, "American Psycho," based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel with the same name. This is one of the tamer scenes in the thriller, where the main character, Patrick Bateman, an investment banker by day and serial killer by night, compares his business cards with his colleagues. The men are obsessed with the intricacies of the paper and typefaces on their cards, yet all the cards look EXACTLY THE SAME. Watch: Classic "American Pscyho" business card scene. Lessons to be learned: Unless you want to end up like these guys with banal business cards, design cards that use die cuts, foil stamping, color, illustration, photography and more, to stand out from the pack.
2. Regular business cards are baloney I'd like to get Patrick Bateman and this guy together in the same room! He will tell you how standard business cards like Bateman's black text on thin white card stock are crap. He's a little out there, but he does make an important point that business cards need to be uniquely designed and truly say something about what you do. Watch: Why plain business cards are baloney. Lessons to be learned: Die cutting and foil stamping may cost a bit more, but can greatly improve the look and feel of your business cards. Printing a business card in a non-standard size and shape will help you stand out. It also helps to add details beyond your title, such as your areas of expertise or specialties. 3. Business cards as weapons This is a gratuitous clip of a young man who has mastered the art of throwing business cards at targets. Watch: Man throwing business cards at targets. Lessons to be learned: No matter what design project you are working on, remember to have a sense of humor and have fun. The business cards you've spent hours designing may end up being used as weapons.3 Crazy Business Card Videos

Non-standard business cards are good as long as they're not over-the-top. Because sometimes business cards that are designed too outrageously that you cannot put them in your wallet anymore.
