I have read thousands of pages from hundreds of business experts, all trying to tell the world what the most important business tools are. A good CRM, customer feedback, print campaigns, etc. Are they right? I don't think so. I think you are born with your greatest business tool: your voice.
Am I crazy? Maybe, but just hear me out. What can you do with your voice? Convey your readiness to do what the customer needs. The simple questions, “What can I do for you?” and “How can I help?” have been known to do wonders for a customers’ faith and trust in your company. Faith and trust create sales and return customers faster than anything else you can do.
Do you think that another business tool is more important?
The power of the spoken word is amazing. I totally agree. You ARE your best marketing tool. When I first started in sales we had no brochure, no websites, no slide shows. No I am not that old, just a very frugal management team. I did have business cards. It was all about service. When I reached my goal of $1 million dollars in sales, I still did not have a brochure, a website nor a slide show.
By the way, I was a print broker and promotional items sales person. Now I am training others to do the same, but equipping them with tools. Imagine what they can do now.
