The annual SF Sketchfest always makes me laugh – not just a chuckle but those huge whole-body laughs. The kind of laughter that we did as kids – maniacally and un-self-consciously. That kind of nostalgic feeling is reflected in artist Dave Perillo’s designs for this year’s SF Sketchfest website and many of the festival’s print materials. Keep on scrolling through this post to see a sample of the Sketchfest artwork along with fan art of the performers, as well!
PsPrint is proud to again be an official sponsor of SF Sketchfest, which launches today and continues through Feb. 10. It’s a win-win situation, since PsPrint prints the festival posters, programs and more, and I get a sneak peek at all their printed materials. How fun are they, with their retro style that reminds me of television commercials from the ’50s? Perillo told me that he has a fondness for the look and style of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s. “I've always been into pop-culture stuff and, for me, the more obscure the better,” he said. What are you checking out at SF Sketchfest this year? So far I have tickets for Princess, which is Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum’s Prince cover band, and "Hail to the King, Baby," which is a chat between Patton Oswalt and Bruce Campbell, followed by a screening of “Army of Darkness.” Yes, I am excited, and I also love the Bruce Campbell poster that Aye Jaye designed for that event. The SF Sketchfest schedule is overwhelming – in a good way. It’s the type of festival that makes me feel so fortunate to live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area – we have an embarrassment of awesomeness going on here.
