“Diane, I regret to inform you that ‘Twin Peaks’ was canceled after two seasons. And I just discovered that ‘In the Trees,’ an art exhibit honoring the 20th anniversary of the cult show, is only two days away, and I can’t make it to L.A. this weekend. But I glanced through the artists participating in the exhibit, and they’re definitely worth checking out.” – Agent Dale Cooper. “Twin Peaks” was born from the crazy-genius mind of filmmaker David Lynch. It was probably too eccentric for network TV at the time – though the ’90s were big for the Pacific Northwest – but it lives on in DVD box sets as well as designers’ takes on the show. After all, what artist can’t find some sort of inspiration in mountains, owls, checkered dance floors and fire? So curl up with a slice of cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee and scroll through the graphic art I found.

Thanks Jennifer! I love Twin Peaks- it's the only "scary" show I'll watch. There's something about the show and that just sticks with you (for better or worse). I can't get some of Lynch's images out of my head. Even the traffic light changing from green to red in the opening credits is creepy.
Totally, Britt! David Lynch was able to strike a balance in the mood -- just enough ominousness with a dose of humor and some good ol' characters. I think the fact that so many images and symbols are stuck in our memories 20 years later show how powerful the show was.
