18 Piñata Designs

Today marks the beginning of Las Posadas, a nine-day Latin American celebration in which each night ends with the breaking of piñatas. Since I’m itching for my trip to Mexico next week to participate in the final days of Las Posadas, I searched for creative uses of piñatas in graphic design. Piñatas are known for their vibrant colors, and while they can be purchased in stores, piñatas are easy to make with some balloons, paper and starch. If you don’t want to make a mess, it’s easy enough to make a piñata on your computer. Here is a sampling of design inspiration I came across – some works more traditional than others. Think about how you can incorporate piñatas into your graphic design projects. Is it too early to plan for Cinco de Mayo?
