When you do wonderful work, it’s nice to hear the praises of amateurs or those clients of yours that are clueless as to how to create the projects that you complete.  But it’s even better to hear praise from your artistic peers.  Competitions are a great way to not only promote your talents and your business, but they are also a great resume builder.  Winning, or even placing in competitions is a wonderful opportunity to network with other artists, and it brings a real legitimacy to your growing business prestige.  Check out these five great upcoming art competitions.  For more information, visit artdeadlineslist.com, a wonderful resource for artistic opportunities. 1. Projekt 30's December 2010 Exhibition Projekt30 is seeking submissions for its next exhibition, which will include 30 artists. Invitations will be sent to an extensive mailing list of galleries, collectors, etc. It will be publicly juried, all work is presented online, and site visitors select the final 30. All participants receive exposure. Projekt30 is an organization dedicated to promoting artists, provide websites for hundreds of artists. Since 2003, Projekt 30 has conducted more than 100 juried exhibitions, featured the artwork of thousands of artists and facilitated the sale of thousands of artwork. Opens Dec. 1. Go to: projekt30.com 2. Call for blue-themed photography Blue is a color that runs deep with symbolism. One can see and feel blue. Blue has many emotional, religious, political and even gender connotations. Explore what blue symbolizes and how blue can illustrate a specific meaning without the use of words. This will be The Center for Fine Art Photography's main gallery show kicking off the New Year. Included with the cash awards will be a solo show for one of the entrants at The Center for Fine Art Photography in the upcoming year. Cash and awards valued at more than $1,500. International photography competition with a $25,000 award Your photos tell stories, and now is your chance to share them with the world. One Life is an international photography competition open to all backgrounds, styles and perspectives. You are invited to submit photography illuminating your perspective, what you love, your travels or anything else that shows your world and experience. This competition is about honoring your vision and demonstrating that, with all our differences, we are one community connected by our love of images. This exhibition is devoted to the discovery, introduction and promotion of emerging artists. The exhibition will be held in April 2011 at the Limner Gallery and is open to all artists working in any media. There will be a $1,000 cash award and $2,400 in publication awards. Call for Embracing our Differences Art The 8th Annual Embracing Our Differences invites submissions for its outdoor art exhibit celebrating diversity. National and international submissions are encouraged, and 45 artists will be selected for the exhibit. The Embracing Our Differences exhibit will be displayed throughout April and May 2011 along Sarasota's bayfront. A total of $3,000 in awards will be presented.
